I ordered nine 5500 windows and two of them were delivered with very visible defects that should have been caught at the factory. It took two tries and three tries respectively before the idiots at the factory could get it right as far as sizing the replacements. My installer was very competent and I recommend them. They were in and out in about four hours and did a great job without wrecking the place. The sizing was very good and they didn’t need much sealant. I think Simonton and their JD Powers award are a bad joke. They must have bought it. Their factory demonstrated an inability to deliver defect-free products. I must give them credit for the seven windows that were defect free. The design is well engineered, but somebody needs to kick some butt at the factory and get the processes under control.
